Into Botswana
Posted on in Travel.
Well it’s been a long day of driving, but after almost 1000 km I have arrived in Maun at the edge of the Okovongo delta. I made another border crossing, and can’t believe how different it is here. It started out with a huge lineup with a lot of trucks, but with the help of 4 wheel drive I followed a local around to the front. I was ready for an ordeal, but it was pretty casual. I had accidentally filled out an exit form, but the officer just crossed out the name and scribbled “entry”. I went out and entered Botswana…”this is Africa”
The roads in Botswana have the animals having the right of way, by way of a written constitution. Consequently it’s a constant dodging of warthogs, ostriches, kudu, goats, cows, donkeys!!!
I soon learned to know their reactions to the truck, and was able to relax a bit.
Last night was my first night in the tent, and I quite enjoyed the perch on the rooftop. I have to get used to being on my own again.
Tomorrow it’s into the delta….
